Boss Woman In The Cannabis Industry

There are many woman in the cannabis industry who stand for woman rights, help us reach in, and pull out or inner divas. Beyonce, Pink Cira, Opera, Whoopi, Michelle. Are only a few of the many woman in the spotlight. As we awe and gravel at how amazing they are and often wish that we could be like them. Their words and music inspire us, touch us and even make us cry. They are powerful, in charge boss ladies. And we are moved by their presence. But what about the other queens that are changing the world. The “non celebrity” spotlight women who equally deserve every praise.

It isn’t uncommon to see a woman in the cannabis industry. CCS ( cannabis consumer correlation) polled in 58% woman responses and only 41% men back in 2017. In the last couple of years woman are coming out of the closet and speaking out about cannabis. Statistics say that women outnumber men when it comes to “toking up”. If thats because of its many health benefits. Such as: menstrual cramps, pregnancy pain, menopause. All the way to relieving stress, anxiety, depression, postpartum depression and muscle relief. Women are taking it and turning into a self made businesses. From wellness & health to perfenalia – woman are taking charge in this growing and changing industry.

There are a number of woman in the cannabis industry that deserve praise a few of them are:

Whoopie & Maya – Together these two amazing woman took cannabis and turned it into a business that specializes in helping woman & menstrual cramps. Woman from all over the world can agree on one thing. Getting your period sucks and is often painful. Blunted Objects – created by Melodi Ling. Created her cannabis business to inspire other females to see the beauty. And the real Nancy Botwin from California Dr. D aka DR. Deena the first woman to open up a medical dispensary in California called Sunset Shop. In an interview, Dr. D she said “ the first time i got high was with Snoop Dogg”

But these are all American boss ladys where are all the Canadian boss ladies? I was very happy to find Canadian Female entrepreneur Jeannnette VanderMarel. Co- founder of The Green Organic Dutchman. Jeannette has a life many families across canada suffer with. A family member with a syndrome that only cannabis eased. In 2003 – her daughter passed away from dravet syndrome as well as a severe form of epilepsy. When she found out cannabis was being used to treat epilepsy, she began the process of being Licensed Cannabis producers. The Green Organic Dutchman became to be one the leading licensed distributors in Canada.

Some more beautiful honorable Canadian boss ladies in the cannabis industry are:

Blandford Ontario Katie Larocci. Grows it not smokes it. Horticultural manager at Up Cannabis. Her job is to study the plants, managing the growing, monitoring the environment and taking data. That may sound bizarre to our “normal” 9-5 job but for katie this is as normal as it gets. Having A voice and speaking well is a big part in the cannabis industry. Pot activist Sarah Hanlon – Speaks out as an ambassador for the webs largest cannabis information resource

These are only a few of the many “not in the spotlight” boss woman, who have changed the face of cannabis. Stepping out into a industry that is still so undercover by its laws. Breaking down the negative social stigma and working on bringing the best medical cannabis to suit all your needs. These women deserve just as much as praise as the “celebrity spotlight boss woman”

Ten Illnesses That Marijuana Helps

potential.therapeutic.medical.marijuanaTen Illnesses That Marijuana Helps

Marijuana has been proven to help patients with certain illnesses, including the most severe like cancer. Big Pharma is notorious for giving people prescriptions to drugs that aren’t actually helping. Who wants to take a pill to treat depression where the side effects include increased risk of suicide? While doctors and drug makers stock their pockets with green, a different shade of the color is beginning to take the medical community by storm.

1. Depression
There are many Americans (and others worldwide) that suffer from the cold draw of depression. With a bleak outlook on life, these patients have trouble even getting out of bed in the morning. While some people will argue hand over fist that marijuana increases depression, those that have switched from Zoloft to Mary Jane know that the plant makes life seem much more bright.

2. Nausea
Feeling like you’re going to vomit? Most chemo patients have severe problems with nausea, making it hard for them to maintain a healthy weight while enduring the harsh radiation treatments. Other people deal with bad nausea as well, including people who simply come down with the flu. While doctors will prescribe hard drugs like Anzamet (which lead users to terrible nightmares and side effects similar to Parkinson’s), marijuana is a miracle plant when treating nausea. One bong hit and your stomach never felt better.

3. Glaucoma
When the watery surface of the human eye deteriorates, doctors are quick to prescribe topical eye ointments/drops to their patients. The drawbacks of these medicines? Constant blurry vision is one, which would make driving or functioning in public extremely difficult, not to mention a permanent eye color change, transforming the iris from whatever color it currently is to brown. Studies dating back to the 70s show that marijuana is extremely effective at treating intraocular pressure in people suffering with glaucoma.

4. Insomnia
If you mention to your doc that you’re having trouble sleeping, expect that they’re giving you something heavy like Benzos, tranquilizers, and sedatives. While these pills may help you sleep, the chance that you develop a dependency in high, no pun intended. Marijuana has been lulling people in to a healthy sleep since before most people knew what insomnia was.

5. Asthma
Bronchial spasms plague a good deal of people world wide. Having trouble breathing can be a terrifying experience and most people who suffer from asthma carry an inhaler with them at all times. Most doctors will prescribe Salbutamol for such an affliction. Side effects Potentially death if used wrong, not to mention extreme anxiety and tremors. So you’ll be able to breathe if you can get past your fear of everything around you and the fact that your hands no longer stay still. Marijuana actually opens the airways in your lungs and doesn’t have such a high mortality rate.

6. Cardiovascular Issues
High cholesterol becomes more of a common issue every day. Doctors tend to prescribe statins for these disorders and sometimes recommend Aspirin for it’s anti-clotting properties. But while pregnant women can’t ingest statins and Aspirin can cause bleeding in the stomach, these methods aren’t exactly perfect. Studies done on mice, however, show that marijuana reverses artery clogging and can even protect the heart from heart attacks in the future.

Post traumatic stress disorder is something that more and more people seem to be diagnosed with. Considering how traumatic the world is getting, this makes sense. But with the doctors sticking to prescribing debilitating anti-depressants to treat this disorder, many people are suffering even more. Side effects stemming from these medicines include sexual problems, worsening depression, and dependency. The cannabis plant work to regulate the memories that trigger PTSD and the sativa strains that are available induce euphoria, making the user forget (even temporarily) what is causing their PTSD.

8. Alzheimer’s Disease
This degenerative disorder is not only painful for the person who has it but for those around them. There are no well known treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease. With only four drugs known to slow the progression of the disease, the treatments’ effectiveness isn’t well measured. Not to mention the drugs used can cause anorexia and a slower heart rate, leading to other problems. Those patients with Alzheimer’s that have used marijuana are shown to have reduced inflammation in the brain tissue. Add in the fact that marijuana also prevents cell death by anti-oxidation and you have a far better medicine for this terrible affliction.

9. Cancer
Most people will argue until they’re blue in the face that chemotherapy is the only treatment for cancer. But with a high relapse rate, the radiation treatment leaves more families without one of their members more often than not. Those who go through chemo will lose their ability to eat and sleep, plus they will lose their hair and quite possibly their will to eve live anymore. There are many reports of people using cannabis oil to treat their cancer as compared to chemo, with far more positive results from the plant than the radiation treatment. Not only do some people believe that marijuana can actually cure cancer, the plant also helps those undergoing chemo to eat, sleep, and function more normally.

10. Chronic Pain
Whether you’re suffering from an accident that happened years ago (or recently) or you happen to get serious migraines, chances are the doctor will hand you a bottle of opiates, tell you to take two, and call him in the morning. What presents a problem with this is that for one, opiates don’t always work for people and can cause bad nausea and sickness in some. Oh and don’t forget the unbelievable amount of overdoses and addiction to opiates that the US is dealing with. More people die from opiate overdoses these days than traffic accidents. Guess how many people have died from marijuana? Still zero. And taking a bong hit will help any headache without the risk of becoming heavily addicted.

Stoner Jobs: An Inside Profile At Firefly

Stoner Jobs: An Inside Profile At Firefly

Having at least one or two stoner internships before getting a real job seems normal. Leading into the summer of ‘15, I definitely felt like I had to get out there and have my own internship. It sounds a little bit ridiculous right, but that’s truly what I was thinking during my first year of college.

I searched around and spoke to some connections through my mom, and eventually found an internship. But, this was not the job that I ever dreamed I would have had. The company was Firefly, an SF-based vaporizer start-up

I went to high school in the bay area, so I had quite a bit of exposure to stoners and I thought I knew a lot about the industry. But after working for Firefly I realized just how wrong I was.

stoner stuff

Now I want to share with you what I saw and learned about the industry from the inside. This article is about being a teenager and seeing the industry from the inside of one of the most technologically advanced companies in the business. I went from having a normal street education to actually knowing the truth of the legal dope industry.

What do I mean by the truth? Well for example, golden clear wax isn’t actually the best. The best wax is red gold and totally see through. But that’s for another time. Let me take you back to before summer.

When I met the founder of a vaporizer company at a business seminar I was pretty excited. Mark and I really kicked it off, and I ended up having an interview with Firefly to be their intern. And to my surprise, I got the job.

Now, at this point, I had never been to keen on vaporizers. Sure, there were like 5 kids that owned Pax’s on my floor in the dorms, but hitting a Pax is no fun. It’s basically an overpriced, ,simple, and flashy vaporizer . In my opinion, it’s best suited for girls who like weed but not smoking it, or for people that want something that looks ‘cute’.

But still, I didn’t have to like the product, I just had to work with it. I honestly had no clue what to expect. Was I going into an office that was seshing all day? Was I going to be working with fat stoners? I certainly hoped so! Well, it ended up being the opposite. I wouldn’t even see weed in the office until two months into my internship! I was working with real professionals. Take this for instance, one of our co-founders, Mark Williams was one of the lead product designers for Mac OS software until he joined the vaporizer industry. Yea, so this was legit shit.

The thing that I loved from the very start was how seriously they took me. I was basically given a list of projects that I had to finish. The assignments ranged all over the place and were really interesting. I had/have to catalogue every dispensary in California, Oregon, Washington, and Colorado, I had to go through a modeling catalogue and write about all the up and coming talent:), I also had to find a ton of popular weed instagrams to work with on advertising. And that’s just a small snippet of my work, not even including going to dispensaries all over the bay area.

Have you ever seen the backroom of a stoners dispensary? Literally pounds of fire weed everywhere.

My third day on the job a coworker and I headed down to SPARC, a dispensary that we really like and work closely with. It’s an incredible place, really clean, high end, and friendly. They have a lounge with Volcano Vaporizers and Fireflys to use, and once a month they even have live jazz to vape to!

Places like Sparc were another cool perk about Firefly. Firefly doesn’t waste time on mediocre (I don’t want no mediocre, from the head to the toe they so far from mediocre). We literally only work with the most high end places you can think of. Sparc and Apothecarium in SF, Native Roots in Colorado, and Nectar in Portland, just to give you an idea.

That day we were at Sparc to teach the budtenders how to properly use the Firefly (it was fun smoking people out all day), because if you don’t have proper instruction, it can be a challenge. For instance, a lot of people will finely grind their weed but the Firefly works better with a coarse grind.

It’s built with a dynamic convection system. Currently, every other portable vape uses conduction to vape which has a pretty high risk for combustion and loss of active ingredients in the plant. Not exactly the smartest way to vape.

You put weed in the oven and it heats the metal up which burns the weed. Firefly’s convection system heats up the air that passes over the herb, giving you real vapor. That’s why you want to have a coarse grind, so that the air can flow through the bowl smoothly.

stoner cannabis

This dynamic convection system has a lot more implications than you think. The reason it was made like this is to give the user the “full plant experience”.

This is one of those things that average stoners just don’t get, but will become well known in a few years.

From Strawberry Cough to Trainwreck, every cannabis strain has a unique blend of over 85 cannabinoids and 100 terpenoid flavors. Each of these compounds activate at a different temperature. Each strain has it’s own unique combination which results in unique flavors and effects.

Due to the fact that all these ingredients release at different boiling points that range from 200°F to a little bit above 400° F the problem becomes capturing all of them. This little dilemma is what the Firefly was built around. The Firefly only heats up when you are inhaling. Meaning that every single hit you get is going from room temperature to 400° catching every single ingredient on the way. The outcome is incredible flavor and the most pure high.

I literally did a full 180 this summer going from bong rips to vape hits because the Firefly is just the best. Remember, I was never even a vape fan to begin with, I thought it was weak shit. But the Firefly is different.

You just read my first article that didn’t even cover more than my first week in my internship. I am going to be releasing new articles throughout the year all about life with Firefly and being a young person involved. You will read some crazy stuff, like when I met a lady that was on her deathbed for ten years and then healed herself with dabs. True. You will learn the shit that companies aren’t telling you. You’ll learn about the chillest companies that are coming out. Like a dab rig that requires no setup or butane, it’s fully electrical, you just turn it on, it heats up, and you dab.

Those and many more coming soon…

Successful Stoners

Our Successful Stoners blog represents and gives credit to all of you out there that have still succeeded in life despite your pot smoking.  The single parents, creative artists, entrepreneurs, professionals, scholars, psychologists, doctors, dancers, singers, rappers…I could go on forever.  I think you get the point.  Not all stoner enthusiasts  are lazy and unintelligent to say the least.  There are a plethora of successful stoners that wake and bake and then carry on to have busy and rewarding lives – all while smoking the herb.

michael phelps

These days, it is pretty common that that average person you see on the street is on some kind of medication.  Many self medicate with cigarettes, coffee, alcohol, and even synthetic drugs.  It’s ironic that so many people stereotype the typical stoner. There are a number of successful stoners out there that come to mind and I want to point them out, praise them and say hey! good on you! I smoke pot and I’m successful too!  For example, Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time, with over 22 medals. He was caught on camera smoking marijuana and once that photo circulated, many people felt let down.

Phelps was hitting that bong like a pro, not daintily toking some little amateur joint.

I also know a great many people smiled and thought, wow cool, Michael Phelps smokes marijuana!  This flower has come a long way.  Its many strains have different effects allowing pain relief, anxiety aids, and many other uses that I’m still learning about daily… Welcome to the “Successful Stoner” section of our blog. We hope you enjoy it and get inspired in some way. Check back every Friday for the latest Successful stoner news and also make sure to check out the rest of our stoner blog.
